A dolomite glade plant endemic to a few counties in eastern Missouri, this leatherflower was established at SNR in the 1930s, but has expanded exponentially after prescribed fire was intorduced in the 1990s. Here, an ant characteristic of glades and dry prairies forages on the flower.
